Houston, we have a problem!

One of our favorite parts of the adoption process is sharing it with our family and friends and keeping a record for our children to have as they get older. It is wonderful to blog from China and feel like we have you all living the experience with us. However, we have just realized that Jeremy will need to leave his work laptop at home-- so we are without a computer!!

If there are any of you out there in cyberspace that know of a laptop sitting around just dying to get used, we would love to hear from you!! Otherwise, we'll probably have to share our journey after we get home.

On a happier note, after spending the ENTIRE day on the computer trying to get the best prices/itineraries, we have our plane tickets!!!! I can't believe we are getting so close!!! And it looks like we will welcome Xander into our family on Monday, August 10th, with the official adoption day being August 11th-- our 11 year anniversary! Can you imagine a better anniversary gift than this darling little boy?!!! (:

Thanks so very much for your kind words and prayers!! We appreciate so much everyone who has been part of this process-- even those we don't know, but who are following Xander's story and praying for him-- we love you!

  1. We had computers in our hotel rooms both in our son's province and in Guangzhou.
We did also bring a laptop with us, but I don't see why you couldn't use the computers in the room.
If you have a card reader, you could add pictures but at the very least, I think you should be able to write.
I have heard from two of my friends who LIVE in China that facebook AND blogger have been blocked for some time now...going on months so you might have to set your blog up to update from your email. Just an FYI.
    Blessings on your trip!

  2. Man - and the one we would usually take is in the shop, I don't know if it will be back in time....this one is my office computer, same issue as Jer has - can't loan it.

Options - rent one? Don't know what it costs tho. You already have the 'public computers' option, maybe at the hotel or hotel's office center.

If you have posting issues feel free to e-mail the stuff to me, I'd be happy to post it for you from the states!

BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BLOG FROM CHINA - we won't know what to do without the updates!

Hugs - much joy - lots of love -

  5. Hmmm, that is so weird, even I can't watch the video now...says it's private! It worked yesterday!
I would try going to You Tube and typing in Adopting Waiting Child.
    It's a great video.
We used Journey to Me for our China trip...it (in 2007) was free for a year and it isn't blocked in China.
We traveled in August too...warm times in Guangzhou baby...warm times :)
It's all worth it though :) Sweat off a few pounds :)

  6. We are excited for you beyond description!

My friend in China emails her updates because FB, Blog, and Twitter are all blocked (as Holly mentioned).

Might just be better to get a nice big SD card or two and use the hotel computers ... or, hey, you could have someone help by posting the text for you (from an email message, just cut and paste).

Anyway, love you all and Congratulations!

  7. OH MY!!!! Xander is coming and quickly! So excited for you!

If I was independently wealthy I would buy you a laptop; oh, who am I kidding? if I was independently wealthy I would move to VN and open and orphanage! haha Sorry, but it's true.

So I will pray for the Lord to provide you a laptop or a way to blog from China. You're His favorite kid, so I'm pretty sure He's got you covered. :)

    Happy, safe travels!!
